Payments

Payment must be remitted upon time of purchase, either over the phone with a technician or on the website during the checkout process. The credit cards we accept for on-line sales and by telephone order include Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Additonal payment methods may include purchase order, check, wire transfer, mail order, or PayPal, and are accepted as a payment method after receiving written consent. Non-credit card transactions must be transacted by telephone at 1-800-476-4849, as these cannot be completed through the online purchasing process.

In the instance of payment failure, we may withhold products ordered and by written notice to you and at any time cancel the contract of sale for the products.

We ensure that your payment is secured through our website verified SSL certified checkout.

Shipping

All shipping charges are paid by purchaser prior to shipment.

Smithy Machines: Most Smithy machines are shipped via Estes Express Lines. For standard freight shipments we offer three delivery methods - 1) Terminal Delivery 2) Business Delivery or 3) Curbside Delivery. Shipping charges are quoted by Detroit Machine Tools personnel proir to or at point of purchase. If you are ordering Smithy machines online, you will be prompted to select your preferred method of delivery during checkout. Note that rush delivery is not available for items shipped via truck freight.

AutoMate CNC Machines: To receive a quote for shipping a CNC lathe or mill, please call and talk to a technician at 1-800-476-4849. Currently the shopping cart checkout will not calculate shipping rates for CNC machines or accept orders online for CNC machines. These machines are bulky and heavy - CNC purchaser's delivery requirements vary greatly. Currently most CNC machines are shipped via Estes Express Lines. However, some machines may be shipped through another method because of the dimensions or weight of the machine being shipped.

Parts and Accessories: Shipping charges are calculated automatically on the website and are subject to change. Items over 70 lbs. or oversized items which are too large or too heavy to be shipped UPS or USPS will be shipped by truck freight. All other items will be shipped using a traceable service, such as UPS or USPS. In stock items generally ship the same day if ordered before 2 p.m. Backordered items will be shipped within 48 hours of receiving the item in our warehouse. When each item is shipped, a verificaton of shipment and tacking number will be sent to the email accoount that is shown in your customer record.

Receiving Shipment

When you receive your merchandise, please inspect the packaging very carefully. Read the delivery receipt carefully to ensure that you are receiving all packages listed on the receipt. If you see any damage or suspect concealed damage, please note this on the delivery receipt. Take pictures of the damage and call us at 1-800-476-4849. We will work with the shipping company to resolve the matter. Detroit Machine Tools can not take responsibility for damage incurred after you've signed the shipping receipt for merchandise as being complete and in good condition.

Returns

The first step to take when you wisn to return an item for refund or exchange is to call our customer service department at 1-800-476-4849. A technician will assist you and will also provide you with a return authorization tag along with instructions on how to return a non-defective item.

Request for refund or exchange must be made within 21 days of purchase. All non-defective returns must be in original packaging, unused and in resalable condition. Original shipping and handling charges are not refundable. Return shipping and handling charges will be deducted from the refund.

All returned merchandise must be shipped using a pre-authorized return form. Returns will not be accepted without prior authorization by our service technicans.

Refunds and Exchanges

Upon receipt of the pre-apprived return item in our warehouse, our technicians will inspect the item for damage or wear. If all is in order the item inspection and processing of refund normally is completed in 3-5 days.

If the returned item requires repairs the inspection and re-sticking process may take longer, and your refund will likely be delayed. The costs required to repair items will be deducted from your refund.

The payment process that will be used to pay your refund will be the same process you used to pay for the original order. When credit card is used, the refund processing times may vary based on refund policies of your credit card company.
