Based near Detroit, Michigan, we are located at the epicenter of metal parts manufacturing in North America. We are actively involved in manufacturing and our main focus is in the design and delivery of quality machine tools. Our tools are used in a variety of applications and are generally used in parts production by small shop entrepeneurs, craftsmen, and manufacturers. Our tools also have a wide application in educational settings.
Quality, low cost, and high efficiency are built into our tools - they are guaranteed to pay their own way. Every day, our machine tools are used to make parts across North America. Cost effective parts production can be accomplished in America and we see growth for domestic manufacturing in the coming years. At the time Smithy was started in 1987, the company principals were operating a John Deere farm machinery dealership. This experience provided with the foundation for the building of a strong organization that designs, manufactures, and sells high quality machinery.
The first machine developed were small multipurpose machines that fit small shop and garage settings. Smithy machines are designed to last a lifetime and to provide quality and ease-of-use features for Smithy machine owners. Over time the product line has expanded to include a wide variety of specially designed bench top machine tools and CNC machines for small shop manufacturers and part fabricators.
Over the years, we have built a strong team of engineers and machinists that work to advance developmet in the design of small machine tools. We are committed to continual improvement in designing and sourcing machine tools for applications that fit small shop manufacturers.
The introduction of AutoMate CNC is the result of years of development with the goal in mind of developing quality, low cost CNC lathes and mills. AutoMate CNC lathes and mills are built to provide a step up from the variety of “personal CNC” machines available on the market.
